One of our first and favorite musical ventures (and one we hope to keep exploring for a long while) is centered around old English Poetry.
What we've started doing is taking some of our favorite old poems (from monumental poets such as Frost, Shakespeare, Kipling, and the likes) and composing them in a style fusing Oriental and Occidental musical traditions.
For example the song "Traveling by woods" (by Frost) combines a 13/8 turkish rhythm, a traditional tunisian violin (and an intro Taksim), and modern Jazz harmony.
Another example is the song "If" (by Kipling) that combines a 5/4 greek rhythm and Baglama playing, with a "Broadway" style 2-5-1 centered progression.
All these tracks are a work in progress, but do have a listen to feel the general direction and sound.
